In a recent development, Ontario’s Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) announced it would no longer issue COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification based on ISO 45001 accreditation, despite ISO 45001’s rigorous, accredited auditing process.
Fortunately, on October 25, 2024, the Ministry of Labour directed IHSA to resume issuing COR certification for IAF-accredited ISO 45001 organizations. This decision allows construction companies to maintain certification without the added burden of redundant processes, aligning Ontario’s standards with global practices.
